3 Reasons To Buy Travel Insurance For Asia

Most people going to study Chinese at the Beijing Language and Culture University are not afraid of leaving their home country and venturing out into the wild. Most BLCU students will likely also do some travelling around Asia during their time in the Chinese capital. There's a lot to see, after all!

Don't put it off!

But perhaps too often those who love to travel consider travel insurance as just another burden or unnecessary expense to pay. They feel like they don’t need it, which is the reason why it is neglected most of the time. However, buying travel insurance before seeing the sights in Asia may end up being one of the best decisions you've ever made. If you get in a sticky situation and need help, you'll be thankful to have it and be covered.

Asia is one of the most beautiful continents, with some truly spectacular scenery to offer -- it's no wonder so many tourists are booking for holidays and vacations in Asia. But that doesn't mean it will always be smooth sailing, especially if you're language skills aren't up to scratch!

Cancellations

If your trip is cancelled or delayed -- which is unfortunately not uncommon in some Asian countries (and especially mainland China) -- the insurance will cover all your incurred expenses. This can include car services and hotels, for example. They will also sometimes help you rearrange your trip so you can continue on with your plans relatively uninterrupted. Personal emergencies are also often accounted for.

Losses

If you have done something stupid or careless like leaving your baggage at the airport, or valuable items have been damaged in transport, your insurance plan will probably reimburse you. We all know it's easy to lose things when travelling, and this is even more true in China and Asia where getting from one place to another can be hectic.

Home country consulate

Perhaps one of the most useful parts of having insurance in Asia is that the insurance company will help you get in touch with your country’s consulate if there are any major problems that are too big for you to handle. This alone is a fantastic reason to take out cover when in a foreign country.

In the end, the old saying stands: "You'd rather be safe than sorry". For a small price you can save on potentially huge expenses if anything does go wrong -- even though the chances may be slim. My advice: buy insurance. Be safe in Asia, not sorry in Asia!
